When’s the last time you sat down and reflected on things- yourself, your relationships, your job/career path, your happiness/well-being, your life in general?
If we wish to live exceptional lives, we’ve got to get clear on who we want to be, what we want in different areas of our lives, and how we want to live our lives overall.
If you’re not getting clear on what you most want, your life experience will be a hodgepodge of random people and experiences- some good, some not so good, some just kind of “blah.”
But that’s not why you’re here, is it? You’re not here to live a so-so, humdrum kind of life, are you? Are you really here in this body, at this time, on this planet to merely go through the motions of life and to be at the mercy of the people and situations around you? If you’re not taking time to get clear on who you want to be and what you want to create, this is exactly what’s happening in your life.
If you want to live a GOOD life… if you want to live your BEST LIFE, you’ve got to create a new set of habits. You’ve got to sit down and really get to know yourself, get to the root of what motivates you and what you most deeply want for yourself, for your life, for the world.
Start today by getting still and asking yourself some important questions, like:
- Who do I most want to be?
- What are my top priorities in life?
- What do I most want to create in my relationship(s)? In my job? In my body/mind? Etc.
- What is something I can start doing to take a step forward in being the person I want to be? In improving my relationships/job/health/etc.?
It may seem a small thing, but any positive change you make in your life is preceded by your thoughts and intentions. How are you supposed to think focused thoughts about what you want or set intentions for yourself and your life if you are not making the time to reflect and get clear?
No matter where you are on your path, asking yourself meaningful questions like those suggested above can be of tremendous benefit to you in bettering yourself and your life. Self-reflection and being open and honest with ourselves is an absolute REQUIREMENT if we wish to live consciously, if we wish to live our happiest and healthiest lives!
And you don’t have to do it all today. Start from wherever you are today and keep taking steps forward, no matter how seemingly small.
Remember Lao Tzu’s wise words:
“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”
